WBS Interview – It’s our pleasure to introduce you to Kathy the owner of Here2beHelpful and Petite Blooms.


Meet Kathy from 





I’m a Single mum of one gorgeous girl, business owner of here2bhelpful Concierge services and Petite Blooms- today l am focusing this interview on my second listed business-


I deliver beautiful, locally grown flowers to your home or workplace for just $30 including delivery. I want flowers to be easy and accessible so that more people can enjoy flowers more often. I love spreading love, colour and fun to peoples day!


Tell us about your business

Target audience for Petite Blooms is anyone who love to give and receive flowers, buy them for themselves  for the home / office/workspace. Thank a friend, a parent, a carer. Everyone deserves flowers – from a family member to big corporations.


Often the best gifts come at the least expected moments. Getting flowers for no particular reason can transform an ordinary afternoon into an uplifting, life-affirming day. l love the happiness it brings!


Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you decided to start your own?

After spending over 30 years in nursing with little appreciation and thanks it was definitely time for me to follow my passion of going into business for myself and working for myself. I have always been inspired by many women in business and thought “hey l can be successful also if l pursue my passion! And that is exactly what l did!


What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?

I am inspired by many successful businessmen and women, l love to follow their achievements on social media as l find them all very inspiring…to many too mention.


What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?

Following my passion for having a successful business. My small business is still very new and growing- so it is yet to reach it greatest accomplishment of expansion throughout Melbourne and not just local.


What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?

ALWAYS follow your passion- if your not passionate about what you do, then forget it and never ever go into business with friends!



What has been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?

Mainly social media such as Instagram and Facebook l find most successful in promotion by flower business. People love to be visual.


What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?

Follow your head and heart!  I decided it would be better to try to turn my passion into my livelihood and potentially fail than to never try at all. I find this a great mantra to live by.


Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?

Networking is an important tool- reaching out and collaborating with others. Its a great way to meet fellow small business owners and of course social media goes without saying!


Do you have any new projects coming up (or have you just completed a big project ~ reached a milestone, etc.)?

Late last year (in my first year of business) l participated in the Melbourne Rose and Garden Show at the Werribee Mansion. That was a big project and a big learning curve.  Always on the look out for some lovely collaborations with savvy business owners.


What do you do for fun/relaxation?  Brunch with my gorgeous daughter on the weekends- we love to try out new cafes around Melbourne. Lounge by the pool on a Melbourne summer day is always relaxing for me…any way near water actually is what l love!


What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?Petite Blooms

Drive, Passion and Commitment


What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

Not being financially successful- everything l do is to make life better for our future. How do l manage my fear- mmm l am thinking perhaps l don’t!


What makes you happy?

My daughter is all l need in life to make me happy and trusted friends plus my gorgeous pets and gorgeous blooms of course!


What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur? Time!


What company or business do you admire the most?

Many local businesses- run my savvy business women is what l admire. Everywhere you look whether it is in the local community or on social media- we are so lucky to be surrounded by smart women who have a drive to succeed.


Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?

Relaxing on a Greek island with others running my business’!


What book has inspired you the most? (OR What is your favorite book?)

Sadly not much of a book reader, although l buy many l run out of time to read! I do love reading the magazine  “Collective” and find it very inspirational.


How do you measure your success in business?

I measure the success of my business by the lovely recommendations that we receive from people that love our flowers! Too know that we are making people happy is success to me! There is nothing better than WOMO.


Do you have kiddies if so how many?

And what is their favourite activity to do with you. One gorgeous 17 year old daughter…who brunches on weekends in new cafes with me and we love to document our exploits. She is my best friend.
