What is the story behind your business name?
The story behind our business name is that my sister Chellody (the other 1/2 of Are You Jello?) and I love Malteaster bunnies, and when they were re-released at Easter this year, it was a game between us that we would send pictures of our stash, teasing the other person of not having any or as many as the person sending the pic.. Anyway, one day I sent my picture to Chellody and captioned it “Are you Jello?” unknowing that the term is actually “jelly” (meaning jealous) rather than “jello”. Showed my age there!! Chellody quickly corrected me, and it has been a running joke between the 2 of us ever since, as I continued to be confused by the correct term!! So when it came time to name our business it seemed appropriate to use Are You Jello? As it had meaning to the both of us and it is catchy!!

Highs and Lows of running your own business?
The highs of running my own business is that it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, I get to work with my beautiful sister and I’m proud of what we have achieved so far. I am a qualified registered nurse, so it’s nice to do something a little different.
There aren’t any lows except from the fact I’m busier than I was before.
Future goals for your business?
The future goals I have for my business is that it continues to be successful. That we forge ahead with our plans to expand our range with more handmade and screen printed products. I also hope one day we will be in a position to be able to open our own store.
What are some highlights (success) in your business so far?
A highlight of our business so far is the pictures customers send us in of their children wearing our clothes and accessories. It’s lovely to see and hear the feedback, it shows us we’re doing something right, that people are taking the time from their busy lives to thank us for our products and service!
One piece of advice to other mum’s who run a business and struggling with motivation and confidence?
The one piece of advice I would give to other mums out there wanting to start their own business is to have a secure plan and just do it! Get your idea out there before someone else does!
